Traders holding stock: import-export businesses that need genuine warehousing at rents the Dubai zones cannot match, with port access through Ras Al Khaimah. Industrial and manufacturing businesses: the profile most free zones cannot serve at all, for whom RAKEZ industrial land and purpose-built facilities are the product, not an add-on.

It is a weaker fit if the Dubai address does commercial work for you (clients, banking conversations, prestige), or if your business will never need more than a desk and the absolute lowest license price is the only criterion; RAKEZ is affordable, but it is not the cheapest line on the UAE spreadsheet, and it does not try to be.

RAKEZ incorporates three structures, and the choice is set by your shareholding, not by preference:

• FZE (Free Zone Establishment): a single shareholder, individual or corporate. The default for solo founders.

On banking, the honest paragraph: RAKEZ companies bank with UAE banks and the fintech providers, and the zone has been building formal banking-partner arrangements that smooth onboarding. As with every affordable zone, some banks still look harder at the file than they would for a premium Dubai address, so have the banking conversation in parallel with the license application, with a clean business plan and source-of-funds story ready. One practical nuance: a bare flexi-desk registration can draw extra questions during bank onboarding, so if banking is critical, weigh whether your workspace tier matches the substance your bank will expect to see.

The ladder starts where every free zone starts: flexi-desk and coworking entitlements bundled into entry packages, satisfying the workspace requirement for small visa quotas, then serviced and standard offices as headcount grows. Most zones stop there. • Budgeting the headline, not your route. The AED 6,000 Biz Starter is a no-visa package.
